DTG Inc is the Christchurch-based operator of a fleet of ex-New Zealand Railways diesel-electric locomotives.
Canterbury
Df 1501 was New Zealand's first ever mainline diesel-electric locomotive. She is also the sole survivor of her type. The photo above was taken on the Cook Strait ferry as we moved Df 1501 from Auckland to our Christchurch base.
At least $250,000.00 is needed for us to put her back on the National Network for all New Zealanders to enjoy. Any donation large or small will help this project along.
We are the only specialised custodians and restorers of New Zealand's English diesel rail heritage.
We have managed to assemble and save for posterity the full NZR collection of English Electric diesel locos. One Df, two Des, one Dg and one Di. The Df is our only non-operational loco....for now.
Since 1983 we have established a strong track record of quality restoration, and operation, of a unique collection of New Zealand's rail heritage.
Df 1501 Restoration Commences 6 January 2019
After 9 years of restoring & returning Di 1102 to the mainline, Df 1501, the sole survivor of New Zealand's first mainline diesel electric built in 1954, has become our main restoration task. This will be a massive project and we need your help with your generous donations to complete the project. Considering supporting what will be most likely our biggest project yet!
