It's hard for teachers to find sustainability projects that motivate students. EVolocity electric vehicle competition ticks all the boxes.
EVolocity's charitable purpose is to draw more young people into science, technology & engineering, while showing them there are actions they can take and decisions they can make that will have a positive impact on climate change.
We equip teams of high school students with an electric motor componentry kit and a set of year end challenges. We deliver professional development for teachers and a series of build camps during the year, and we connect the teams to polytechnic and university tutors and engineering mentors. They design and build their own electric vehicles for the end of year competitions, with categories including performance, innovation, design, sustainability, reporting and community awareness (we want the kids to educate their families and communities about their projects and what they're learning).
EVolocity's charitable purpose is to draw more young people into science, technology and engineering, while showing them that there are actions they can take and decisions they can make that will have a positive impact on climate change. We run a competition in high schools in which teams are equipped with an electric motor componentry kit. Then, with help during the year from our own experts, tertiary tutors and engineering mentors, they design and build electric vehicles while learning about the benefits to NZ and the global environment.
