Founded in January 2001, Friends of Flora is a community group that believes our native fauna must be preserved for future generations.

We have been trapping predators in the Flora Stream area of the Kahurangi National Park so that native birds and plants can recover. We have successfully reintroduced roroa (great spotted kiwi) and whio (blue duck) and are working on numerous projects to help our alpine species and rare plants.

This will enhance the experience for all visitors to this popular area, resulting in wider community appreciation and use of the Park.

We are a group of volunteers who are passionate about the local environment.

On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause. Thank you so much. Your donation is very much appreciated. It has been a very difficult time for us since the road access was undercut by the storms last June/July and cut off our access. But we found a way to continue to service our trapping lines using e-cargo motorbikes. Thank you for your support.
