Based on the statistic, the cost of living in New Zealand specifically in major cities such as Auckland has exponentially increased over the years. Many individuals are struggling to put the bare minimum food on the table for themselves and their families. Hence, “Food for Hunger” is an initiative by Handshake People in collaboration with the Working Together Group (WTG) to step in and support the needy to help lessen their burdens. Together, we vouch that “We don’t Accept Hunger” and will strive to make sure that everyone has the chance to enjoy at least one healthy and hearty meal with their loved ones.

Short Term missions:

1.Distribute 100 packs of cooked meal per week to needy people around Auckland

2.Involvement of different ethnic communities to put hands together.

3.Calling on mothers to participate in the preparation of meals.

4.Shoulder tapping for volunteers to give back to the less fortunate.

5.Collaborate and form partnership with likeminded organizations

6.Expand & distribute the meals to other needy areas in Auckland.

7.Greater involvement of corporate groups with this program.

Long Term missions:

1. Have a transit centre ‘Our Home’ (multipurpose centre with a kitchen, clinic, childcare, training centre, storage facility etc.) in Auckland

2. Develop some life skills for the needy to become self-sufficient & regain their self-esteem.

3. Create a social enterprise platform to sustain the project

4. Have mobile Soup Kitchen trailers to run the program every day.
