Run entirely by volunteers, over the past 2 1/2 years, Food for Life Northland has distributed over 70,000 hot and tasty, nutritious meals

Northland

Over 50,000 meals have been distributed to children in five low decile schools in the Whangarei region. Currently we serve over 1000 healthy lunches each week to schools.

Every Tuesday - Thursday we run a community café in central Whangarei where lunch is available by donation (koha).

We were started in 2011 by two Hare Krishna devotees, who provided lunches for 50 people from our community café. We soon started working with a local school to provide lunches. In 2014 we expanded our programme to include 5 schools, feeding over 1000 kids every week.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
