We Need Your Help: "Furrytails needs immediate financial support to keep rescuing and caring for the cats and kittens in Horowhenua.

Levin, Manawatu-Wanganui

Urgent Call for Support: "We are in dire need of financial assistance right now! The Horowhenua region is grappling with a crisis in the number of unwanted, abandoned, stray, and unowned cats and kittens. This is why Furrytails was founded. As of today, we are caring for 58 cats and kittens, with new requests pouring in daily. Many of these kittens are sick and will require weeks or months of care.

Tragically, we’ve just discovered a ringworm outbreak! This means we must shut our doors for at least six weeks, stopping all adoptions, increasing the costs of food, cleaning, and medical care, and requiring expensive veterinary treatments. We refuse to euthanize these kittens like other shelters may do, but this has significant financial implications.

We already spend over $1000 a month on food alone, with thousands more going towards medical expenses, including desexing. Our only sources of income are adoption fees, fundraising, and donations from a few amazing supporters—but they are not enough to cover our mounting costs. With no adoptions for the next six weeks, we face a shortfall of thousands of dollars. Our vet bills have already exceeded $2000, and we have less than $200 left in our account. If we don't receive immediate help, we could be forced to shut down. Our community depends on us, and we need your support now more than ever.

Please share this and donate if you can.

Thanks to all  24 March 2025

We are taking things one day at a time at the moment and all cats and kittens have everything they need. We have only managed to pay $400 of our vet bill so please keep sharing our page. Here’s a pic of some of our ringworm kittens, enjoying their afternoon.
