GALS is the Gay and Lesbian choir in Auckland New Zealand. Hearing is believing, and we aim to bring joy to everyone who hears us sing!
Supporting the LGBTI community, and providing amazing sounds, is what we do
We are a not for profit organisation. We rely on member subscriptions and ticket sales from our concerts for the majority of our funding. We support our members where necessary by making it financially easy to be a part of GALS. We turn no one away.
Funds donated via this Givealittle page will help provide for development of the choir – things beyond what we are able to cover with member subscriptions, including participation at out-of-town choral festivals and events, special training opportunities, and subsidies for members who would not otherwise be able to afford full participation in choir activities.
Your donations will mean our fabulous choir keeps getting better, has more opportunities to provide community enjoyment and will ensure we won’t turn anyone away for lack of funds.
Funds donated via this Givealittle page will help us provide transport to concert and other events for our members, as well as musical development for some of our people. Donations will also help to ensure we will never turn anyone away for lack of funds
We are always keen to attract new singers and we welcome newcomers - regardless of their sexuality.
We sing at many events for no charge, including the AIDS Memorial service in Auckland, Auckland Art Gallery and other events connected to the LGBTIQ community in Auckland. See our website for more information on upcoming events.

More about us
GALS is a non-auditioned GLBTI community choir based in Auckland.Going strong since 1992, we were the first-established gay and lesbian choir in New Zealand.
We hold two series of concerts per year, usually in May/June and October/November.
We also sing at lesbian and gay events such as Big Gay Out, the Auckland Pride Festival and Parade and World Aids Day.
We have participated internationally in the Gay Games since they were held in Amsterdam in 1998.
We attend and have hosted Australasia's Out & Loud choral festival.
Members attend the 4-yearly American GTLB choral festival, "GALA Choruses Festival" as well as the similar European "Various Voices Festival".
We now boast about 50 active members at any one time and we estimate that around 300 enthusiastic lesbians and gay men have passed through our ranks over the last 20+ years.
