Our approach is rooted in empowerment, aiming to offer a hand up rather than a hand out. We strive to transition recipients from reliance on food parcels and emergency food grants to achieving control over their food supply. Tino rangatiratanga, agency, dignity and choice, in the process enhancing mana and fostering self-reliance within the North Shore community.

The Good Works Trust Food bank is the emergency food provider for any Social Service agency with clients on the North Shore including Auckland City Mission, Te Puna Haurora, Oranga Tamariki, Hospice, Victim Support, WDHB, MSD, Plunket, Corrections, CAD’s, RESPECT, Pathways, Shine, North Harbour Budgeting and many others. We’ve been supporting Shore whanau in crisis for nearly 20years. We also provide 55 "make at home" school lunch kits a week providing 935 school lunches each week to whanau unable to feed their kids, and we run a Social Supermarket for people on the journey to financial independence - giving them a hand up, rather than a hand-out.

Thanks so much for your support. This donation came the same day as a request from a support worker for school lunch support for a single mum with 6 kids. Our program is at capacity but thanks to your donation we can provide these kids with equitable access to education for a whole school term. Hungry kids cant concentrate and parents keep them home when they cant provide lunch. This is a very real difference you are making.
