Your support allows Greenhithe RDA to "Reach More Riders, Change More Lives" through goal-based horse-riding and horse-related activities
Auckland
For over 45 years, Greenhithe Riding for the Disabled has provided therapeutic horse-riding for people in the community who live with a disability. Our organisation is almost entirely run by volunteers, and all funding other than rider fees is received through grants, private sponsorship and donations.
In 2021 we welcomed two new employee coaches to our programme and an employee Horse Manager. Introducing paid staff to our team will allow us to take our programmes to the next level and achieve our vision to "Reach More Riders, Change More Lives".
We are currently operating on a Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and have 33 riders in our programme. However, our waitlist has 38 riders! With your support we can invest in our staff, volunteers, and horses to expand our riding programme and enable our riders to achieve their goals.
In our riding programmes, riders work to achieve their goals which may include increasing physical ability, improving communication and interpersonal skills, and developing problem-solving and life skills. A horse’s three-dimensional movement (side-to-side, up and down, forward and backward) stimulates and aid physical improvement. The horse is the perfect partner to aid self worth, confidence and social interaction. Therapeutic riding also provides exercise and can be a pathway to competitive sport.
Thank you for your generosity!
