Hatikvah: Blue Hope Foundation

  • One Laptop. One Life. One Chance

      1 July 2025

Today, thanks to a generous $500 donation from Sally, we changed the trajectory of a life.

Her contribution was used through the Ima Project, our initiative supporting women connected to police workers—often the first to see signs of trauma. Through them, we reach those in crisis before it’s too late.

We purchased a refurbished laptop for a mentally injured police officer living with severe PTSD. She has lost her home, her income, and her support network. Cut off from ACC when her AEP provider stopped her cover, she was left with no way to contact legal aid, health providers, or even friends.

This laptop is now her lifeline.

Through the Ima Project, we stepped in—providing advocacy, restoring ACC support, and helping her connect with legal and mental health services. This is the first step on her path back to stability and work.

The Blue Hope Foundation exists to ensure mentally injured police workers are not abandoned. Grounded in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, we advocate for access to justice, equality, and real, practical help.

Police serve our communities. It’s time our systems served them too.

Thank you, Sally. Your donation made hope possible.

We’re now a DPO – and raising the voices of police workers!

Thanks to your support, The Foundation is now officially recognised as a Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO). This milestone enables us to bring the lived experiences of mentally injured police workers directly to government under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

Our message is clear: police workers deserve dignity, justice, and tailored mental health support. We’re advocating for systemic change – from ACC reform to early intervention through our Ima Project.

Visit our new website to learn more, connect, and share our mission: www.bluehope.co.nz

Together, we are working toward zero suicides within the NZ Police.
