Historic Helensville Railway Station and Museum
Helensville, Auckland
Our railway collection includes a working model of Helensville rail yard and station in the 1950s, (built by Ross Hughes), railway artifacts and local railway and Kaipara history exhibits. You can also see a display of our working train control tablet signal machines used for guiding a train between Helensville and Kaukapakapa. As well as the separate museum building the Trust owns and maintains the original 1880’s Helensville Railway Station which currently houses a café and some craft shops. It is one of only a handful of original stations still in existence in the Auckland Region. The museum is open every Sunday between 10am and 3pm and charges a small entry fee which goes towards supporting and maintaining the museum. Our organisation is run totally by volunteers who give their time maintaining the exhibits and infrastructure. Your donation is vital, and appreciated, allowing us to preserve these important pieces of our history for future generations to gain an understanding of their forebears lives, trials and endeavours which built the country they call home.
We own and maintain the 1880's built Helensville Railway Station and have an onsite museum which houses a working model railway of Helensville Station in the 1950's and various historic artifacts of rail and maritime history.
