Science Equipment Library

We aim to raise scientific literacy in West Auckland and connect our local scientific community.

Auckland

The Science Equipment Library (AKA The House of Science West Auckland) resources West Auckland primary schools with science kits complete with all the equipment and information a teacher would need to run the activity. Each kit has between 4-6 activities on a particular subject. For example, our "What's the Buzz?" box introduces children to the spectrum of light bumblebees see, what the vibration of their wings does, sound, and of course 30 dehydrated bumblebees for children to look over with magnifying glasses!

We currently have29 boxes and would like to have the whole set of 35 to offer these schools. Each box costs $2500 to purchase after development, testing and translation into Te Reo. We offer these to schools at a considerable discount , to make science accessible to all young people.

Every little bit counts!

More about us

We would like to raise scientific literacy at a primary and intermediate school level. House of Science has been running in Tauranga for several years, providing science resource kits and professional development for teachers, encouraging more interactive science in the classroom, and saving teachers prep time.
