Friends of Bullock Creek

We exist to protect, restore and enhance the public amenity and the environment of Bullock Creek which flows through Wanaka to the Lake.

Otago

Bullock Creek is one of Wanaka's major natural amenities. Made more special because it is a spring fed creek, with its beginnings within the town boundary and flowing through out township to the lake.

At the headwaters of Bullock Creek, the Fish & Game Hatchery Site is a substantial urban wetland. For the past four years, FOBC has partnered with the Department of Corrections and Fish & Game to restore, improve and enhance the site.

This community project has involved the funding of an extremely popular boardwalk and extensive new planting of native trees. To date, it has involved more than 4,500 volunteer and support hours and 3,800 new native plantings.

The project if ongoing. We are further enhancing the site for public use and pursuing initiatives that will help protect the future health of the entire length of the Bullock Creek waterway.

Of course, these projects cost money. So this is where you come in. If you would like to donate to our charity, this would be gratefully received.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
