Help preserve this piece of New Zealand history to its 1950 appearance as shown in the painting by artist Don McAra.

Canterbury

The Tramway Historical Society Inc is committed to the restoration of historic New Zealand Trams and Trailers.

We are currently restoring Christchurch Hills Tram Car No. 24 to full running order, a restoration costs between $500,000 and $750,000. Restoration of Hills Car 24 started in 2010 and requires at least another $240,000 to complete. This tram, which originally went into service in 1920 was a workhorse of the Christchurch Tramway systems that closed in 1954.

Completion of this restoration will give people the authentic experience of what it was like to ride this Christchurch tram in the post World War 2 period.
