"We motivate and Equip the Physically and Mentally impaired while Inspire and Enable Communities on the World Wide Web"
Auckland
1 in 4 New Zealanders are limited by a Physical or Mental impairment.
Life outcomes for disabled persons are worse in occupational and educational outcomes. The problems are especially pronounced for women and Māori with disabilities.
For many of these people, accessibility to spaces both physical and virtual remains difficult. two can make everyday tasks, which people without disabilities may find trivial, a severe challenge.
We are using GiveALittle today from IT’S ACCESSIBLE to ask for your help.
We are an Auckland-based nonprofit that seeks to motivate and equip persons with physical and mental impairments to succeed in their lives, as well as providing web hosting, website design, and technical support to nonprofit website clients.
We use GiveALittle in particular since we are deeply impressed by funding services that help New Zealand’s most vulnerable populations, and our organisation has similar aims.
We believe that all people have a purpose in life, and we would like to help them succeed. We believe in supporting all people, without regard for their race, religion, physical and mental disabilities, as well as their whanau, caregivers, and friends.
We provide coaching services ourselves, as well as point students towards free and accessible online resources where they may learn anything from Bible studies to photography, to programming.
We help people with impairments access the internet and computer hardware, and these assistive tools can make a major difference in allowing them to participate in everyday life.
We also help other nonprofits that assist people with disabilities through our web hosting and website design services. We provide the website development service free of charge.
We are proud to report that our services have grown significantly over the past few years. In 2019 we received 450 hours of work from volunteers, almost double the amount of the previous year. Also, in 2019, we supported eight nonprofit websites, up from five the previous year.
We continued to provide coaching services to our two students: Deborah and Natasha. , we were able to provide a free laptop to Deborah
Despite these successes, we believe that IT’S ACCESSIBLE can do even more.
Here’s how you can help:
We have the following objectives that we would like to achieve.
- Move into an office space provided by Auckland Council to provide a more professional environment and allow for better coordination with our volunteers, clients, and students.
- Hire full-time staff to reduce our reliance on volunteers and enable us to provide more services. This funding will also provide support to our chairman, Dean Brennan, in case he is no longer able to continue in his current role.
- Upgrade our website to allow clients to sign up for hosting using Visa or Paypal
- Change our website design services to a user-pays model to make our finances more sustainable.
But to do this, we’re going to need your help. That is why we are asking for your support. We want to offer the opportunity to become our sponsor or donor, which would help us scale up our operations and make a difference in the lives of New Zealanders with disabilities.
Alternately, if you would prefer, we would also like to offer you our website hosting services. We can guarantee that we will offer a better rate for our services than your current web host and prompt, reliable support. Also, we will display your logo on our sponsorship page.
This funding would allow us to achieve our objectives, scale up our operations, make preparations for the retirement of our chairman, and bring our services to more of New Zealand’s most vulnerable and underserved populations.
Thank you for considering this request. Please let us know if you need any additional information that may influence your decision, or if you would like to speak to anyone on our board.
