Orphan Self-Sufficiency: 5 Acres of Land for Organic Gardening in Kamwenge, Uganda. (Feeding 193 Orphans) Cost of Land = NZ$6,000.00
Canterbury
Four orphan centres with schools in different districts of Uganda have been set up. The orphans stay with families in the villages. Each day at school, they have one meal at lunch time. Many arrive with no clothes and are in a bad state of health, loosing both parents to aids.
Our aim is to enable the orphan centres to become fully self-sufficient through business set-ups and also with organic gardening. We have already successfully completed this in Zambia with 1850 children, in four different villages in the Mumbwa area, over the last four years.
