Kauri Mountain Restoration Society

The Kauri Mountain Restoration Society is formed by a group of New Zealanders passionate about the Kauri Mountain coastal area east of Whangarei. Our key objective is to restore the viability of the natural ecosystems through regeneration of the native biodiversity, and to control invasive plants and animals in the area.

We also believe a unique opportunity exists to purchase Kauri Mountain Farm from the current owner and form a public ownership model. We are working to find a purchaser who is as passionate about this incredibly special area as we are.

We have a great team of volunteers that have put in a lot of work in so far and now we are asking for donations that will help us continue our work and the environmental restoration of Kauri Mountain a reality. Donations will go either towards the land purchase and/ or towards the enabling works and operational expenses of our Society which is a registered NZ charity

PURCHASE an important piece of privately owned, iconic NZ coastline to prevent development so that all may enjoy it in the interest of public well-being

PROTECT the existing centuries old native forest on the site, while regenerating native forest and the biodiversity of the area

PRODUCE a nationally significant ecological corridor with adjoining protected and high-value conservation sites

PROMOTE responsible beach access in sympathy with the endangered species that frequent and inhabit the area
