KCA distributes fresh & non perishable food, clothing , shoes, furniture and whiteware for free to other charities in the local community.
Wellington
Our volunteers have been super busy rescuing and redistributing food, clothing and other goods to assist the 77 partner agencies that we collaborate with.
As a '1 stop shop' for our partner agencies KCA collaborates with front-line charities by rescuing food, clothes, shoes, toys, childrens' books, educational dvds. This is then passed at no cost to front line charities to assist their clients directly.
This stock is shared with agencies as far as Kapiti Coast to Upper Hutt, Porirua and Wellington.
In the past 63 days our volunteers have redistributed over 69 tons of food back into the Greater Wellington community and 946 banana boxes of non-food supplies. We couldn't have achieved this without the support of our donors, sponsors and our dedicated team of volunteers.
This generosity has meant that we have been able to assist nearly 10,000 people in the Greater Wellington region so far this financial year.
In order to continue the work that we do we need your financial support. It costs us 66 cents per kg to rescue and redistribute our stock to give those a hand up for free.
Kiwi Community Assistance (KCA) based in Grenada North does the hard work behind the scenes - rescuing fresh food, clothes and goods and providing them to front-line charities so that they have the resources they need to help those most in need.
12th July 2022 - 2022 Supreme Winner at the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards 13 July 2022
We are humbled and privileged last night to be the Supreme Winner at the Wellington Regional Community Awards in Porirua for the work that our charity does.
The work that our charity does is deemed an essential service but our volunteers and staff work in the background. They sort and box food up from local supermarkets, farmers' markets, manufacturing companies, general public and last year this meant that we were able to redistribute 345 tons of food back into the community.
Businesses such as Colgate-Palmolive, Hanes Pacific Brand, McPhersons and the general public donated non-food items such as clothing, shoes, hair accessories etc for our volunteers to make into care packages.
We don't meet or chose who we assist. This is done by our charity partners who offer their clients wrap around services in budgeting, addiction, living without violence, foster care etc.
Nothing that we do has our branding on it as we provide dignity to families requiring a hand up.
We are also finalist in the Wellington City region for the work that we do next month.
Please help us to continue the work that we do in the Greater Wellington region.
