Kiwis 4 Cambodia is a New Zealand-based charity bringing education to poor rural villages in Cambodia

Canterbury

Kiwis 4 Cambodia is a New Zealand-based charity working in the poor villages of rural Cambodia. We are committed to raising the livelihoods of poor but very capable people through education in all its forms.

K4CK recognizes that, with knowledge, the abilities and willingness of these people will lead to them building their own strong livelihoods in ways that empower the community to become self sustaining.

More about us

Kiwis 4 Cambodian Kids Charitable Trust have spent some years supporting youth education in Cambodian villages near Siem Reap, believing that is best way to lift them out of the poverty they’re born to. However, with the devastation Covid has landed on these communities, especially with the tourism income they relied on being wiped out, our focus is now on their survival. With no Government welfare system to help in any way, the reality is that without outside help, people will starve.

We are now supporting Kiwi-living-in-Cambodia Sue Thompson’s Kitchen Of Hope to help these very capable people to help themselves. Firstly, we are supplying vegetable seeds, tools and training so villagers can grow food and have veges to sell. In return they commit to tending their plots well and cleaning up both their sections and common problems like alcoholism, drug use and family abuse. This is literally changing lives in several ways and turning despair to hope. We’re also funding Kitchen Of Hope’s A Helping Hand project to help villagers set up their own small business, like raising chickens or fish ponds. They get given chickens/frogs etc plus training and help to draw up and follow a proper business plan.

We’ve always found that working with people to help themselves gives the the best lasting result for themselves and their community. As Kiwis, we’re continually struck by our fortune to live in this amazing country, especially in these Covid times, and also feel fortunate that we have a way to get help to others who need it so badly. Our heartfelt thanks for your support.
