The Lower Waitaki River Management Society has been a strong voice for the protection and enhancement of the Waitaki River's in-stream values, since it was established in 2005. The Society was an important contributor to the development of the Waitaki Regional Plan, and has been a strong advocate on matters affecting the River's intrinsic values since the Plan became operative.
