Mangapārae Papakāinga Ecological Restoration

Mangapārae Papakāinga Restoration: Reforesting our whenua and improving our wetland; our initiative includes intensive planting, water testing, pest control, fencing, creating protected access, and raranga wānanga using material sourced from the papakāinga. Our next 5-year focus is to plant an additional 15000 trees, build protective pathways, and increase pest control, and our dream is to construct a small restoration building for our workshops/wānanga. Our trees are sponsored however we need specialised equipment, an off-road vehicle to transport trees and volunteers, protective pathway materials & construction, education and awareness wānanga ongoing costs for pest control, water testing and, ongoing planting along rivers, and threatened species support.
