The Michael Cronhelm Foundation Trust is registered with the NZ Charities Commission and was formed in honour of Michael Cronhelm, who lost his life to cancer in 2004.
Michael worked as a mechanic for an archaeological field school in Northern Kenya for four years. After Michael passed his family traveled to Kenya and as a way of giving back built a library in Ileret, home to the Daasanach Tribe. This extremely remote village is 20 kilometers south of the Ethiopian border on the eastern shore of Lake Turkana.
Since building and opening the library in 2010 the MCFT has started an informal preschool and in 2014 took ownership of El Bokoch Primary School. This year Amy Cronhelm and Liza Cronhelm are going to build four additional classrooms, a library and teachers accommodation at the primary school.
Through the MCFT’s educational projects and having access to books all of the children have gone up a grade in their National Kenyan Exams.

The Michael Cronhelm Foundation Trust supports children and education in Ileret, Northern Kenya, home to the Daasanach tribe.
To date we have built a library, started a preschool and in 2014 have taken ownership of the El Bokoch Primary School. Our mission is to 'Give A Hand Up' to an extremely marginalised community through education.
Our 2015 project is to build four additional classrooms at the El Bokoch Primary School (currently there are two classrooms), a library, plus teachers accommodation. We need your support to do this.
Our foundation is run by a dedicated group of volunteers and every cent donated goes to the MCFT projects.
