Matthews Friends NZ

Matthews Friends NZ

We support families with children placed on dietary therapy to help control medication resistant epilepsy.

Auckland

Ketogenic dietary therapies can reduce or even eliminate seizures in children with medication resistant epilepsy and is the mainstay treatment for the metabolic disorder Glut 1 Deficiency. Matthews Friends assists in raising awareness of dietary therapy as a proven, medically supervised treatment for epilepsy. We offer support and resources to families and Health Professionals and aim to assist with training and education.

We are a financially independent charity formed to help NZ children but we are part of the global Matthews Friends support network that was established in the UK in 2004, a widely used and respected resource in the paediatric neurology community.

More about us

Matthew Friends provides information and support for families whose children are using ketogenic dietary therapies for epilepsy or metabolic disorders. We also support the Health Professionals who administer these dietary therapies, including the team at Starship Hospital.
