Support the Dunedin Midwinter Celebrations Trust to produce beautiful participatory events with integrity and of a high artistic standard.
Dunedin Midwinter Celebrations is appealing for your support to secure a venue to house our giant lanterns, costumes and our Art Team.
We have used a variety of free spaces in the past which are invariably cramped, dirty and cold. Our artists make big, beautiful processional art objects and need space to work, to collaborate and create. Imagine what we could achieve if we had a proper work space?
As well as a work space we need to secure better storage for our giant lanterns. The current free space we use is too small and dirty and we could be evicted at any time. These unique creations are not secure and some have already had to be destroyed due to a lack of space.
Our vision is to have one space for our giant lanterns, costumes and Art Team and to share that space with other artists and/or organisations. The space can then be used to prepare for events like the Midwinter Carnival and other new events such as our more recent event Midsummer Lights.
More about us
Dunedin Midwinter Celebrations is a registered charitable trust established in 2003 to support seasonal celebrations in New Zealand. We believe it is important to celebrate our distinct seasons in a way that is appropriate to our local environment. Each year we produce one or more events, working with talented local artists and the wider community. Our main event is the Dunedin Midwinter Carnival.
