Mixit - refugee youth arts

Mixit is a creative project for young people from refugee backgrounds mixing it up with migrants and locals.

Auckland

For 10 years Mixit has supported young people from refugee backgrounds by providing a free inspirational creative project they can belong to.

Adjusting to an unfamiliar environment and culture is full of challenges and among the hardest hit are the ones already struggling with finding their identity and their place in the world - the youth.

Mixit helps these young people find their feet in their new home. We help them build confidence and self-belief. We provide them with supportive mentors and friends and give them an opportunity to feel like they have a positive future.

Donations from the Friends of Mixit allow us to improve our programme, bring our activities to life and give our Mixers the opportunities they deserve.

With all of these things on their side, they can rise up and succeed.

We are always seeking new *FRIENDS  12 August 2016

Mixit is a small charitable not-for-profit organisation that is financially fuelled by regular weekly donations. We are always seeking new regular funders which we term *FRIENDS.

*FRIENDS are regular donors who support us by donating a small amount every week, or even once a month. FRIENDS receive regular updates, exclusive invitations to in-house showings / presentations / performances throughout the year.

By becoming a FRIEND you will be enabling our organisation to hire a van every Saturday to transport our rangatahi to and from our studio, along with hiring professional tutors/guest artists to facilitate our weekly Saturday 2PM-4.30PM class session with our refugee youth at our main base -the Corban Estate Arts Centre in Henderson, West Auckland. Your regular donation also enables us to provide a light afternoon tea as well as access to studio hire. Every bit counts and we appreciate it.

If you would like to now more about how to become a FRIEND, look us up at:
