Christchurch, Canterbury
MAP is a community dance organisation and charitable trust based in Ōtautahi Christchurch. MAP nurtures the movement sector – connected, sustainable, making, and appreciating movement art.
MAP offers opportunities to local and international artists through residencies, to local movers through the Community Choreographic Project, for artists to write about dance in The Map publication, and MAP offers movement classes to all people and bodies.
MAP has a home at 76 Hawdon Street, Sydenham. The studio has one full wall of mirrors, a ballet barre, Marley floor, and a full PA system. There is a kitchen, toilet, and roller door access.
We teach all of our classes here, hold workshops and movement labs, and hire out the studio on a regular, ongoing basis to our in-house artists as well as to one-off hires on request.
We often host events, our own, in collaboration with artists and community organisations, or you can host your own event here.
