North Auckland Dog Rescue NADR

We want to provide affordable desexing programs within our communities, to stop the flow of homeless puppies.

Auckland

Over the years. NADR has pulled hundreds of dogs from pounds: Taken dogs who have had nowhere else to go. Struggled to find enough foster and forever homes for them all. And even though we have successfully re-home hundreds of dogs, the line of needy dogs never gets any smaller. Rescues are bursting at the seems, inundated with litter after litter of unexpected and unwanted puppies. We have decided to move the goal posts. We are now concentrating on desexing as many dogs as we can in our communities. In the last 2 years we have raised funds and desexed 182 Dogs with a further 62 booked in and paid for. We are hoping to raise funds to cover another 60+ this year. Help us stop the problem before it begins.

More about us

We are moving the Ambulance to the Top of the Cliff. We are trying to desex as many dogs as we can. We have run successful desexing campaigns in North Auckland and the Far North, with more just about to start up again.

We will be fundraising and asking for Donations to keep the pot boiling throughout the year, but if anyone wants to Be Part of the Solution by contributing now ...........the cost of a cup of coffee per week for a year will desex two dogs…….donations are tax deductible.

Deseixing Day  12 December 2019

A few months ago, we were approached by Courtney Davis, Environs Manager at Te Roroa along with Kaitiaki Kiwi Waipoua, asking if we could help with desexing a number of dogs owned by residents of Waipoua.

Dargaville Veterinary Centre agreed immediately to send some of their team up there, and with a generous grant from The NZ Companion Animal Trust we held a spay and neuter day at the Waipoua Campground Hall on Thursday 17th October 2019.

We had kindly been offered the Kohanga Building at Pananawe Marae, but we had too many dogs booked to fit in there - How cool is that ?? Too many dogs booked!

16 Surgeries were done - 11 Dog Spays, 3 Dog Neuters and 2 Cat Spays.

A busy day, but some of us still managed to sneak away for an hour or so to visit Tane Mahuta!

Many thanks to everyone involved on the day, but also to Bay of Islands Animal Rescue - Never Ending Story for referring Courtney to us, Saving Hope Foundation and Hazel Impey for the loan of dog crates, to Coast Pet Care for bedding from their Op-Shop, to Barbara for her company, hard work and the use of her Tardis like Breakout Bus to help transport the pile of gear that was needed, and to Country Retreat Boarding Kennel & Cattery for taking good care of our own dogs so that we could overnight up there without worrying about them.
