Donate directly to help trans and gender diverse youth update their identity documents
Naming New Zealand is a new organisation formed to help transgender, gender diverse and intersex youth with updating their identity documents to correctly reflect their sex and gender.
In today's bureaucratic world, having correct, current forms of identification is important for autonomy, access and participation in society. However, having these documents reissued can cost over $250 depending on what forms of ID are required - a large expense for someone on a low income. Young sex and gender diverse people may be on limited incomes for many reasons including study and other commitments as well as age, gender or sex discrimination. They should not be excluded from having ID in their correct name and gender, or further penalised for their gender or sex by having to pay additional fees.
All money raised here will fund the costs associated with name changes, birth certificate updates, new passports, driver licences and other identification that trans and gender diverse youth need.
For more information or if you would like to apply for support with these costs, please visit our website at www.naming.nz, or find us on Facebook at "Naming New Zealand".
