The Nelson Women's Centre is a resource and support centre for all women in the Nelson Tasman region. More than 3,500 women contacted the Centre last year.

We exist through a mixture of unstable government funding (grants), trusts - and the kindness of people like you. We are currently facing a funding gap of around $80,000 we need to bridge between May and September 2024.

NWC - WHO ARE WE?

The Nelson Women's Centre has been supporting women and their whānau for over 30 years in its current location and as an organisation since the 1970's. We provide vital services such as low cost counselling, social work, food support relationship and domestic violence support, and workshops on a huge range of life skills. We also operate a little library and offer a space for any woman and non-binary who just needs a time-out.

The Centre staff and volunteers work with women to empower them to be safe, resourceful, to value themselves, and to achieve their potential.

We pride ourselves on being a welcoming, safe drop-in space, where women can come to connect, get advice, information and find a sense of community. They don't need to be in crisis to access our services, though many people we help are.
