We are parents & educators who wish to create inclusive, safe, trauma-aware schools/communities so every child belongs, learns, & thrives.
Nationwide
Most of us know of a child who has experienced trauma. Many come into schools with trauma and others experience trauma within schools because of ongoing discrimination, bullying, punitive measures, exclusions and a basic lack of belonging.
Psychologists & counsellors aren’t easy to access, nor affordable. Even the most well intentioned and dedicated teachers don’t know where to begin. Mental health, well-being, relational safety, and inclusion are not prioritised.
This is why we established NATINA (Neuroscience And Trauma Informed Network Aotearoa), a charitable trust with the intent to prevent trauma across educational settings and communities in Aotearoa.
Our mission is to promote, educate and advocate for neuroscience and trauma-informed approaches in education, to create safe, inclusive, holistic, thriving learning spaces and communities for our tamariki (children) and rangatahi (young people) and ensure no one is excluded.
We will do this by offering well-researched, culturally appropriate information and professional development, by influencing policy development, and by creating useful free resources that can be accessed by all via our website.
Come and be part of our movement for change. Make a positive impact on the future of our tamariki and rangatahi. With your help we can continue to influence and create the systemic and attitudinal shifts that are essential to promote inclusion and wellbeing within our education system and communities!
NATINA Charitable Trust, was established in Feb 2023 to promote & support a better understanding of Neuroscience and Trauma Informed approaches, to ensure inclusion of our marginalised and disadvantaged tamariki in Aotearoa schools & communities.
