Te Whare Hapori o ngā Puna Waiora / Newtown Community Centre is seeking our communities support to continue to thrive!

Kia ora tātou,

We are the Newtown Community Centre / Te Whare Hapori o ngā Puna Waiora - a thriving community centre based in Newtown, Pōneke. Not only do we hire venues (we have 8 spaces available) but we run various programmes and projects that support our community to:

- have access to delicious kai

- have ways to connect

- build community together

- learn & upskill

- find support

- have access to resources

- make life more rich/meaningful/fun!

Here's a small taste of what we get up too:

- Free soup Fridays - a community lunch, all welcome

- Community Fridge & Pataka Kai - often stocked by local cafés - free snacks!

- Community Theatre - complete with theatre lights, projector, house P.A

- Wellington Timebank - share skills, knowledge, talents for timecredits, instead of money (www.wellingtontimebank.org.nz)

- Newtown Tool Library - A library for tools! (www.newtown-tool-library.com)

- Wash Against Waste - keep your events/parties waste free

- Exercise Classes - tai chi, yoga and dance at affordable rates

- Youth Workshops - more recently mural and zines projects

- Drop in Room - come get out of the cold, have a cuppa or come work and hang out from our cozy space.

- One-off events, workshops and classes - that respond to community wants and needs

- The Newtown News & our E-newsletter - sharing all the good that happens in the best 'burb in Wellington

- Supporting JP (Justice of the Peace) services & drop-in legal clinics

..... and plenty more....!

More about us

We're a thriving community centre - with 8 venues available to hire. We also run loads of community development projects such as Wellington Timebank, Smart Newtown, programme's for youth and Newtown Tool Library!
