Creating Kororāreka Russell’s first full-time daycare so local families can stay, work, and thrive. Help us open Ngā Pīpī Kororā!
Russell, Northland
Ngā Pīpī Kororā is a charitable trust started by three mums who know firsthand the juggle of raising a family.
Right now, there are no full-time daycare options in our community. Parents are driving daily to Ōpua, Paihia, or Kerikeri, paying for fuel, ferry crossings, and losing precious hours every week just to access care.
Being a small community, Kororāreka Russell relies on small businesses and essential services — many owned or staffed by people with young families. The lack of childcare makes it harder for parents to keep businesses running and for our town to retain skilled professionals, like teachers and doctors.
While it would be wonderful if every family could stay home with their little ones, the rising cost of living means many parents need to work to support their whānau. Full-time childcare shouldn’t be a barrier to making ends meet.
We’re changing that. We’ve secured a building at Russell School, and now we need your help to open Kororāreka Russell’s first full-time, licensed childcare centre so local families can thrive without leaving town.
Your donation will go directly toward setup costs like fencing, furniture, equipment, and everything needed to get our doors open.
As a charitable trust, we’re not here to make a profit — we’re here to create something our community urgently needs. Every dollar brings us one step closer to providing quality, local childcare for our tamariki.
Please help us make full-time childcare in Kororāreka Russell a reality.
Ngā Pīpī Kororā is a trust created by local parents to open Russell’s first full-time daycare, supporting families with quality care and a warm, nurturing place where Kororāreka kids and whānau can learn, grow, and thrive together.
