Our Veteran Volunteer and Paid Ambulance Officers - Your community's unseen and forgotten heroes. They need your help!
Have you ever thought about what happened to that Ambulance Officer who, some years ago, was the most important person in your life when you were lying seriously injured by the roadside, having a heart attack, or your child was in a life-threatening situation?
You relied on and trusted this Ambulance Officer to save your life or your child's life, relieve your pain, and be compassionate in your time of need. This they efficiently did for all Kiwis from the cradle to the grave without fear or favour.
So many of these Ambulance Officers who willingly and professionally provided you with this care since leaving or retiring from the ambulance Service require care themselves.
This need arises as they cope in later life with what they have seen, heard and smelled as Ambulance Officers attending tragedies or incidents over many years.
Our Trust was formed by three retired Ambulance Officers who recognised the urgent need for the welfare and support of many of our non-serving or retired colleagues.
We are a completely independent registered Charity/Trust and have no affiliation with the major ambulance providers in New Zealand, ie Hato Hone St John or the Wellington Free Ambulance Service both of which are also registered Charities.
The NZAAV is administered entirely voluntarily by the five trustees. There are no paid staff in the organisation.
All monies raised will be used entirely to meet the aims of our Mission Statement:
"Caring for our Colleagues, our Legacy and our Noble Profession"
