Promoting and protecting the welfare of New Zealand's equine athletes.
Nationwide
The NZ Horse Ambulance Trust has funded and operates a fleet of eight horse ambulances to promote and protect the welfare of NZ's equine athletes.
The horse ambulance attends most thoroughbred and standardbred race meetings and trials, and is available for equestrian events where an NZEVA vet is engaged.
The equine ambulances have a full hydraulic suspension system, which means they can be dropped to the ground and raised again. This is important as it means when a horse is injured there is far less stress on the animal than having to walk up or down a ramp.
The units have been designed by equine veterinary surgeons and the Trust is supported by the NZ Veterinary Association.
The NZ Horse Ambulance Trust is a registered charity (Charities Services no. CC53589) and donors are eligible for a tax credit.
The New Zealand Horse Ambulance Trust was established in 2016 for the purpose of funding, procuring and operating a national fleet of horse ambulances. We invite you to join the mission and support our activities that protect and promote equine welfare.
