The COVID -19 Pandemic has had an overwhelming impact on Sri Lanka and it is saddening to see the unprecedented upsurge in cases. The challenges and stress it is causing Sri Lanka’s fragile medical system is concerning, as many hospitals are under the pump to admit patients. Our Lankan brothers and sisters are suffering due to a lack of medical facilities. It is indeed a truly devastating time for the entire country where people are grieving for the ones they have lost and also for the ones who remain impacted by this illness. It is a time of strain and sadness also for Sri Lankan’s living overseas, watching helplessly from afar as their loved ones get impacted.

Whilst we are far away our hearts are with our country of birth and New Zealand Sri Lanka Foundation (NZSLF) is doing the only thing we possibly can do in this hour of need; raising funds to purchase much-needed ventilators for two Hospitals in the low socio-economic regions of Diyathalawa & Dikoya. These two hospitals have dedicated COVID wards and are presently overwhelmed with admissions and a lack of medical equipment.
