Opotiki Society for the Care of Animals Incorporated

OSCA INC. ~ caring for our community felines, focus on desexing. Help, recommend, assist ~ anything that we can provide we will.

Bay of Plenty

Opotiki Society for the Care of Animals Inc - known as OSCA Inc. Our focus is for the Opotiki community and for cats and kittens. We are open seven days a week, 365 days of the year and volunteer based.

Our town is a mix of urban and rural with a population of approximately 5,000 and extending into the rural community. We are here as we believe our town deserves a day to day face, a centre to come to, seek advice, provide help where we can.

Our main focus is to desex, to prevent unwanted kittens, all incomers are homed desexed, had one vaccination, micro-chipped and registered on the NZ Companion Animal Register, wormed and flea'd along with their vet booklet.

Our centre is open plan, where there is alot of human/feline interaction, the radio is on, lawn mower going and most day to day sounds, this seems to set our adoptees in good stead for settling into a new home well. We can provide the personal touch.

We wish to raise money for our centre to remain open 365 days, be a voice for animals in Opotiki, be able to provide vet treatment as necessary, continue our desexing programme and be that CENTRE for our felines.

More about us

OSCA Inc, was formed in Opotiki, Bay of Plenty after the SPCA branch was closed back in December 2018. We felt there was a definite need for a day to day face where people can come seeking advice and help. Our focus is cats and kittens.

OSCA UPDATE FOR MARCH 2024  29 February 2024

Reading back over some of our updates, the news is the same! Pretty scary! Abandoned kittens, mature cats looking for new homes and plenty more on the horizon. We recently received 8 kittens in abandoned and dumped down the Motu River pull over, lucky for them as another day out in the open, they would not have survived. All needing extra foster 24 hour care. Our numbers have not dropped much for several months, creating a very busy centre with kittens and cats everywhere. Homes are very hard to come by in our area, so if you are thinking about adopting, please come by us - our centre kittens, cattens and cats all have super personalities that will match someone, somewhere and we hope sometime soon. We appreciate your support, thoughts and donations to OSCA as we enter our 6th year of operating.
