  • OSCA UPDATE FOR JUNE 2024

Wow, the time flies by these days. Suspect because we have been so busy with incoming kittens and adopting. We hit an all time high in March for incoming and have finally slowed down. We are so pleased to announce all of our 8 abandoned Motu kittens have now found a home, a few have taken extra care getting them through. From January to June we have homed 76 kittens and cats, with 95 cats desexed in that time too. OSCA has been running some funded dog desexing with 104 dogs desexed in 3 projects. Thank you to NZ Companion Animal Register and SPCA for those funds with OSCA topping up. We are proud of our achievements. Super big thank you to all our supporters who continue to think of us and support us through this medium or directly. With much appreciation, stay well, be kind and be happy. From all of us @OSCA Inc.

  • OSCA UPDATE FOR MARCH 2024

      29 February 2024

Reading back over some of our updates, the news is the same! Pretty scary! Abandoned kittens, mature cats looking for new homes and plenty more on the horizon. We recently received 8 kittens in abandoned and dumped down the Motu River pull over, lucky for them as another day out in the open, they would not have survived. All needing extra foster 24 hour care. Our numbers have not dropped much for several months, creating a very busy centre with kittens and cats everywhere. Homes are very hard to come by in our area, so if you are thinking about adopting, please come by us - our centre kittens, cattens and cats all have super personalities that will match someone, somewhere and we hope sometime soon. We appreciate your support, thoughts and donations to OSCA as we enter our 6th year of operating.

Thank you so much for everyone's support it is truly appreciated. Our 'house' is full again of young kittens and a few hard to home mature cats, all with their own individual personalities. We hope one day soon someone will come along for them. Meanwhile our focus is to prevent cats becoming pregnant adding to the numbers unwanted. We are lucky enough to be able to offer desexing discounts which we hope to continue - your support is making that difference and helping us achieve that. Super big thank you from all of us at OSCA Inc.

  • OSCA update for April 2022

For awhile there we had very few homings, with a plea for homes 16 kittens or cats have found their way into a new home. Within a tiny pawse of time, saw 9 kittens, 3 cattens and 1 cat enter the centre, so we start again with bringing the kittens through to desexing age, then finding new homes. It seems it never ends. How important is it to desex? So important, your help is always appreciated in helping us do this

Finally we are seeing a reduction in incoming numbers, it has given our volunteers a break from full on cleaning and looking after these little ones. We still have some gorgeous cattens who were kittens seeking new forever homes. Spread the word - all our furry incomers have great personalities.

It seems this kitten season is not stopping any time soon. With still alot of kittens and 3 mature cats in the centre we are just as busy as ever. Little Bambi's arrival was quite different to other arrivals. He was found inside a dead decaying deer carcass. After a good wash and a worming from his finder, we have discovered he is a real cheeky character. His story had lots of people wanting him. When ready he will be off to his new home. Spread the word on the other gorgeous kittens we have.

A whirl wind December with many unwanted kittens - with January heading the same. With a full house of 30 kittens and 2 cats to care for, its a busy time for us. It may not sound alot compared to big rescues, it is alot for our small community. Here's to more desexing.
