The Save Erskine College Trust Inc (SECT)

The Save Erskine College Trust Inc was established in 1992 as New Zealand's first Heritage Protection Authority. A voluntary trust, SECT helps protect Erskine College and grounds as an important historic heritage site for the people of Wellington and NZ by:

The establishment of a heritage protection order over Erskine College buildings and grounds in Island Bay - helping to protect the main heritage buildings from demolition in the 1990s;

Commitment to secure funding for the buildings;

Work to restore gardens on site for the community and users of the site;

Active involvement in protecting historic heritage in national and local government legislation.
