As an affiliated patrol of Community Patrols of New Zealand we patrol our local area, helping the Police, and keeping our communities safe.
Canterbury, Selwyn District
Hi. Selwyn Community Patrol are a very active community patrol covering both urban and rural areas of Lincoln, Prebbleton, Tai Tapu, Ladbrooks, Springston, Leeston and Southbridge. We are all volunteers and work in association with the police as an official Community Patrol of NZ. We have a fully equipped patrol car which includes lights, first aid kit, defibrillator and road safety equipment. Patrollers are fully trained; police vetted; wear a uniform, and carry out patrols of approx 3 hours in pairs for safety. We patrol during the day, evening, late nights and early mornings. We act as the eyes and ears on behalf of the police around the community. We check on schools, businesses, community halls, parks and reserves, cemeteries as well as residential areas. This helps to deter crime and keep our communities safe. We also report on road hazards to the Council and can help out at road traffic crashes, and community events such as Lincoln Sounds, Diwali Festival, Christmas Parades etc.
To keep our car and patrol on the road we really need your help - so any donations will be most welcome. We currently have 60+ volunteers on the road and we are looking to increase this so that we can run multiple patrols per day. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you when we are out and about around the community! If you would like to volunteer please give us a call as we are always on the look out for new members to add to the team.
