It's heartbreaking to think there are people in the community who don't have blankets to keep their tamariki warm during winter.
SuperGrans have been amazing. I have a newborn and I’m breastfeeding so it was very difficult to get anything to eat, much less nutritious food. There’s a limit to what food you can prepare with one hand while holding a baby with the other. Also money was getting a bit tight, as the total household income is my paid parental leave. My Plunket nurse asked if I’d be open to receiving help from SuperGrans, of course I said yes please.
A short time later the Plunket nurse showed up with a care package of frozen meals, etc from SuperGrans. The frozen meals have been so helpful. I can throw them in the microwave and then eat them one handed while breastfeeding. I’ve even been able to put simple meals together with the cooked chicken from SuperGrans. The corn fritters kit was so useful. They have supplied laundry powder and toiletries, I’m doing laundry now every day so that is very welcome. They’ve even supplied a toy and spoon for baby. Thank you SuperGrans. Also thank you so much to your wonderful donors.
We have been so overwhelmed with the response from our community to support those in need. Thank you so much. We have been able to hand out well over 300 care packages loaded with Vegetables,Fruit,Meat and other much needed supplies. And that's saying a lot with a staff of 3!
Too my whanau at SuperGrans Tairawhiti from the deepest part of heart I want express how greatful I am and how blessed I feel for the aroha you have all shown me and for instilling in me deep sense of pride and and accomplishment I now have. I now view myself in a more positive light and have a more positive outlook in regards to my future.
