Taimahi Trust

We are dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of young adults with learning disabilities and helping them into meaningful work.

Whangarei, Northland

Welcome to our Givealittle fundraising page!

At the heart of our mission lies the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to engage in meaningful work that not only empowers them but also enriches their lives.

Taimahi Trust is on a mission to transform the lives of young adults with learning disabilities. We believe in creating opportunities that go beyond traditional learning methods. We build micro businesses that not only foster real-life work skills but also pave the way for independence.

Parents of disabled young adults understand the immense potential their children possess. They envision a future where their loved ones can lead ordinary lives, filled with enriching experiences that help them develop essential skills, earn a reasonable income, and interact with a diverse range of people. In essence, they long for their children to have the same opportunities as everyone else.

More about us

In 2017, co-founder Rachel Hill took a bold step by establishing a coffee cart start-up to provide meaningful work for her disabled son. This initiative started as a part-time venture, inviting others with disabilities to volunteer and gain valuable experience. Among these volunteers was Alison Faith's son.

The response from the community was overwhelming, demonstrating a genuine demand for such inclusive endeavors. Inspired by this success, Rachel and Alison founded Taimahi Trust in 2019, with the primary aim of enabling their sons to earn a living and lead fulfilling lives. While grants provide essential support, it is the micro businesses within our Trust that offer something truly unique: on-the-job training that is otherwise inaccessible to individuals with disabilities.

Our entrepreneurial spirit drives us to create real-life opportunities for people with disabilities, allowing them to contribute to the workforce while providing exceptional products, delicious food, and outstanding service. When you support any of our micro businesses, whether you're local to Whangarei or from anywhere in the nation, you are not just making a purchase – you are enabling, empowering, and enhancing the well-being of our incredible team. Join us in our mission to make a difference, one meaningful opportunity at a time. Your support can help us continue to build a world where everyone has the chance to be like everybody else.
