Last week we had the pleasure to partner with the South Waikato Achievement Centre in Tokoroa whose mission statement is "Supporting people with disabilities to achieve their goals".

The Achievement centre was founded and developed in 1972 in the South Waikato region offering a wide range of programs through business units, Community Participation, and Creative Arts Units. It is based on a personal optimistic philosophy that it is possible to harness professional skills and knowledge with community resources and goodwill to provide a people-centered service, where everyone benefits. "Personal growth, self-esteem and respect results when people are able to be contributing members of their local communities".

We wanted to come alongside them and offer our support with our egg project. We handed over 47 dozen eggs that will be distributed to their residences.

COVID-19 has made it challenging to fundraise this year. Nevertheless, we cannot stop - our community and families still need our support and that means we must raise the funds to make that happen.

We realized that a lot of people were undergoing considerable hardship early in March with the implementation of the level 4 lockdown. In order to “reach out” whilst delivering some degree of support, we started delivering eggs into our neighborhood. We arranged to purchase the eggs from a local free-range poultry farm in Lichfield (South Waikato) and delivered the eggs to our neighbor's letterboxes with a note to say “… if there is anything else we could do – just call”. We have continued to deliver eggs into the community which has led us to find various cases of hardship that we can address by supplying food items and curtains. To date, we have delivered over 11,670 eggs in Tokoroa.
