Since 1980, The New Zealand Jewish Archives Trust has been collecting memorabilia that tells the vibrant stories of our Jewish communities.
Wellington
For forty years, the New Zealand Jewish Archives Trust has collected and preserved memorabilia, documentation, printed material, religious artefacts and ephemera that tell the vibrant, varied stories of our historical and extant Jewish communities, and the range of their contributions to the country's cultural, economic, and political life.
Now the Archives embarks on a programme of consolidation and upgrading that will secure and extend the life of its collection, place treasured items on permanent display, create a hub for visitors and researchers, and mount exhibitions of a high standard. Special events, including lectures and symposia will be also be a feature of the ongoing work of the Trust.
Coming into fruition alongside these efforts is a unique and innovative website for the archives that will serve as a conduit for narration of the heritage and still-emerging cultural trends within our Jewish communities. Covering faith and art, communities and lives, history and expectations of the future, our website will be a stimulating contribution to our national online cultural resources.
Since 1980, the New Zealand Jewish Archives, based at the Wellington Jewish Centre, has collected documentation, artefacts, and recorded and printed materials that bear testament to the rich, distinctive heritage and culture of our Jewish communities.
