Auckland

The Auckland Night Shelter plans to open a “Hub” in central Auckland to provide an after-hours location to better connect the homeless and those who risk becoming homeless to the services they need.

The Aotearoa/New Zealand Homelessness Action plan identifies gaps in our response to homelessness. Priority actions include providing additional support to individual, families and whānau who are homeless or at risk.

Covid-19 has seen increased emergency housing for those in need but it has created new challenges including getting access to other support services.

Lifewise research highlights that greater “situation-based support” and better navigation are priorities.

In 2021 Lifewsie found that after almost one year of Covid-19 in New Zealand, collaborating with other community groups to offer more inner-city spaces for people to connect was a priority.

A single point of accurate information and guidance remains an ongoing gap for homeless whānau and this doesn’t exist after 6pm.

This is the Hub’s mahi.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
