Empower Swanson & Ranui youth through our activities hub. Mentoring & sports programmes will provide a safe space for growth and development
Ranui, Auckland
Tuilaepa Youth Mentoring Service (TYMS) supports at-risk Pacific and Māori young people in Auckland, aged 6 – 25 years who otherwise fall between the cracks. Our evidence-based mentoring programes address the challenges of disadvantaged youth and individuals enabling them to re-engage with education, and reconnect with family, culture and community. TYMS has a dual focus - we work at a grassroots level to directly impact the lives of our young people that need support now, while at the same time working to create catalytic, systemic change in the ecosystem around them.
Our new Navigator will offer mentoring programs and sports such as basketball, indoor soccer, Crossfit, Netball, boxing, and Dance/Arts events to engage and support youth in the community. We believe that creating an inviting and encouraging environment provides an opportunity for these younger generations to develop their skills, gain confidence, and combat the rising youth issues occurring in Auckland.
As such, we are seeking funding of $50k or to fully equip our warehouse with artificial turf, new basketball hoops, netball equipment, and a great sound systems. This will enable us to provide a space where the local youth can safely grow, develop, and have fun. With the support of our community and partners, we can invest in the future of our younger generation and foster positive development through our activities hub. Blessings.
