The Rotary River Pathway Trust has created walkways and cycle trails in Central Hawkes Bay. We need funds to extend and maintain the trails.
Hawke's Bay
The Rotary River Pathway Trust has developed a series of recreational walkway and cycle trails in Central Hawkes Bay centered on the Tuki Tuki river. We have also constructed a mountain bike park and erected a swing bridge across the river to link the trails between Waipawa and Waipukurau.
This has proved immensely popular with the locals and visitors alike – on good days there are scores of people out exercising – enjoying the sun and fresh air.
The project is ongoing; we have plans to extend the trails and there is normal maintenance – this will require funds. While we have a dedicated group of volunteers there is always a need to fund raise.
Our immediate projects include:
• The Lindsay Bush trail – work here will open walking and cycling access to the native bush reserve and water race tunnel.
• Maintenance to existing facilities – add parking areas at key sites, establish picnic areas
• Build additional mountain bike trails in the Gum Tree Mountain Bike Park – improve parking and signage there
• Enhance existing single mountain bike and walking trails in the river berms – native plantings, culverts, mini bridges, jumps, weed control.
All donations and support will be welcomed and appreciated by the trust and our community.
The Tukituki Trail is a network of trails for walkers and bikers, situated in Central Hawkes Bay between the townships of Waipukurau & Waipawa. It offers a wide variety of trails and tracks along the beautiful Tuki Tuki river. It was created, maintained and funded by the Rotary River Pathways Trust Inc.
