The Wairarapa Community Law Centre provides free legal services subject to certain criteria.
The Wairarapa Community Law Centre is a registered charitable trust that provides free legal services including information, advice, assistance, representation, and education. We believe in a just and fair Aotearoa, with a mission to provide free legal services to those in our community who are unable to access it.
The mission of ensuring that all New Zealanders have access to legal services is a huge challenge. Unfortunately, limited resources mean targeting the very highest need. Eligibility for service depends on the nature of the legal problem, financial means, and other factors that pose as barriers to accessing legal services such as debt, mental illness, and age.
Our service delivery approach is holistic which identifies not only legal issues but also any contributing/underlying social factors. Referrals are made that address the client’s needs in a broader context, aiming to empower individuals so that they can help themselves.
The Wairarapa Community Law Centre exists exclusively for charitable purposes, namely ensuring the right of every qualifying person in Aotearoa to justice regardless of their sex, race, colour, disability or impairment, age, or belief.
