Help us keep this iconic part of Auckland's history alive by giving towards the maintenance and restoration of this 1935 Steam Tug.
Auckland
The long-term survival of the William C. Daldy is by no means assured.
The ship is an 80-year-old metal object, immersed in salt water, with high running and maintenance costs, sustained by the enthusiasm of volunteers. It seems that the Society is always on the edge of a precipice, from which the William C. Daldy could not be recovered as a working vessel. Were the Daldy ever to fall out of survey, it could not be reinstated without extensive modification
Even with the generous support of the Marine Industry and the Engineering Community, the Society still needs to raise in excess of $100,000 per year to keep the Daldy running
The William C Daldy is an on-going heritage project. The Society is constantly seeking ways to fund the continuing restoration and preservation of this historic & iconic vessel.
By extending the life of the vessel and maintaining her safe operation for future generations is important for the wider community of Auckland.
The Tug William C Daldy Preservation Society is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of this unique heritage vessel. Built in 1935, maintaining one of the last operating steam tugs in the world costs over $100,000 a year, and we need your help!
