Fundraising to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome cats in Invercargill.
Invercargill, Southland
West Plains Rescue is a registered charity located in Invercargill.
We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome cats, ensuring the cycle of unwanted kittens does not continue by desexing every cat we rescue.
To reduce the spread of disease and the number of lost cats, all of our rescues are vaccinated and microchipped, including being registered on the nationwide NZ Companion Animal Register.
In 2022, we converted a garage into a rescue "cattery" so we could help more cats. This has been a great success so far, having had nearly 80 cats pass through its doors in half a year.
We have big plans for the future, including getting our local Council to implement desexing laws and improving the culture and attitude towards cats.
We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome cats to reduce the number of unwanted, wild and stray cats in the Southland region.
We desex, vaccinate and microchip all cats which pass through the doors of our rescue.
Kitten season 2025-2026 19 December 2025
We are already intaking a number of momma cats and kittens, as well as stray toms as summer approaches.
If you can make a donation to help with the ongoing costs of running the rescue, covering vet bills and feeding the many hungry mouths we greatly appreciate it.
