Whakaangi Landcare Trust is a registered charity protecting NZ's northern most population of 300 North Island Brown Kiwi.
Whakaangi Landcare Trust is a registered charity managing a biodiversity project covering 1600ha near Hihi in the Far North. We protect NZ's northern most population of North Island Brown Kiwi. All donations are used directly in our pest and predator control work. Every week, every year, we have 2 dedicated trappers working to keep the predators at bay. We run advocacy programmes with local schools and provide dog aversion training to ensure dogs don't attack kiwi. Funding is always scarce and the more we can attract, the greater our impact can be. You can see more from us at www.whakaangi.kiwi and https://www.facebook.com/KiwisOfWhakaangi
Currently (Oct 2015), we're seeking funding (up to $4,500) to help us roll out our dog education programme (permanent awareness signs etc) throughout our region.
More about us
Whakaangi Landcare Trust is a registered charity managing a biodiversity project near Hihi in the Far North of NZ. We protect NZ's northern most population of North Island Brown Kiwi. Our work involves extensive pest & predator control over our 1600ha project.
We are currently (Oct 2015 onwards) seeking to fund a dog awareness campaign in our region. We will erect permanent signs throughout our region, plus education information and programme to engage dog owners. This also includes giving back through our Kiwi Aversion Training for dogs (next instance is 17 October). This positive message campaign will cost $4,500 and so this is the amount we need to raise.
